🎨 THE ARTIST

Faux Tarot Series | Card I

Art is supposed to break a few rules. Otherwise, what's the fucking point?

Before I was cutting glass, I was chasing color in a slightly less socially acceptable medium.

Graffiti. 🎨

Growing up, graffiti was one of my first loves. There was something about taking an ordinary wall and turning it into something that demanded attention. The colors, the lettering, the freedom to make something entirely your own, even if nobody ever knew it was yours.

It taught me to chase color, break rules, and leave my mark.

And while my days of spray paint and questionable artistic decisions are largely behind me (emphasis on largely), that rebellious little shit never really went anywhere.

She just found a more expensive medium.

Welcome to The Artist.

Part of my original Faux Tarot series, this piece is a love letter to the art form that helped shape the artist I eventually became.

It's about creative rebellion, self-expression, and that irresistible urge to turn a blank surface into something worth looking at.

Because art shouldn't always be polite.

It shouldn't always follow the rules.

And it sure as hell shouldn't exist solely to match someone's beige living room.

Sometimes art needs to be loud, messy, defiant, and just a little bit inappropriate.

The medium changed. The attitude didn't.

And now, instead of leaving my mark on walls, I'm building the whole damn wall out of glass.

🧱 Wait... That's ALL Glass?!

Yep. Every single bit of it.

And this is where things get a little ridiculous.

The graffiti-covered brick wall, the umbrella, the spray coming from the paint can, and the graffiti itself are all created using glass powder (frit) applied through a screen-printing process.

Even the lettering spelling out THE ARTIST and the Roman numeral at the top of the card were created using fused glass frit.

No actual spray paint. No Sharpies. No regular ink.

Just glass. An unreasonable amount of patience. And six separate trips through the kiln.

SIX.

Because apparently I looked at the already time-consuming process of making stained glass and thought, "You know what this needs? More steps."

Each firing required carefully building up and fusing different elements to achieve the finished design.

The result is a piece that combines traditional stained glass construction with the layered techniques of kiln-formed glass.

Graffiti art, recreated in a medium that requires several thousand dollars' worth of equipment and the patience of a Buddhist monk.

The irony is not lost on me.

πŸ› οΈ Made to Order: A Little Rebellion, Just for You

PLEASE NOTE: THIS LISTING IS FOR A BRAND-NEW, MADE-TO-ORDER PIECE.

The artwork photographed is a previously completed panel from my original Faux Tarot series.

You're purchasing a newly handcrafted version of an existing design that has already been created and successfully executed.

Because this pattern has been built before, minor adjustments may be made to improve construction, refine details discovered during the original execution, or accommodate available glass materials.

Any proposed changes that would materially affect the appearance of your artwork will be disclosed and discussed with you before your purchase is finalized.

⏳ Production Time

Estimated turnaround: 4–6 weeks.

Each panel is individually handcrafted, and production timelines may vary depending on my workload, glass availability, and kiln scheduling.

Because The Artist incorporates multiple fused glass elements requiring separate firings, production cannot always be rushed.

Any significant delays will be communicated.

You can rush a lot of things in life.

Glass in a kiln is generally not one of them, unless you're particularly fond of expensive disappointment.

πŸ’° Why Does Handmade Stained Glass Cost What It Does?

Because making a brick wall out of glass is a spectacularly inefficient way to avoid buying actual bricks.

But here we are.

Unlike traditional stained glass pieces, where most of the work involves cutting, grinding, foiling, and soldering, The Artist incorporates extensive kiln-fused details requiring six separate firing cycles.

And that's just one part of the process.

There's also the original pattern creation, preparing the screens, applying the glass frit, carefully building the individual design layers, sourcing materials, and assembling the finished stained glass panel.

Every firing requires kiln time, electricity, preparation, and the possibility of something going sideways after hours of work.

Then there's the specialized equipment, tools, consumable materials, and all the time involved in creating a single finished piece.

The price reflects the original design work, glass materials, specialized techniques, equipment, and the hours of craftsmanship required to create this artwork.

You're not just purchasing a stained glass panel.

You're purchasing a small piece of my artistic history, painstakingly recreated using techniques that are significantly more complicated than shaking a can of spray paint.

And substantially less likely to get me arrested.

πŸ–€ The Fine Print (Even Rebels Have Rules)

Handmade Means Handmade

Every Rainjarden Does panel is individually handcrafted.

Minor variations in glass color, texture, solder lines, and fused glass details are natural characteristics of handmade artwork.

Because the screen-printed elements are created and fused by hand, slight variations may occur between the original artwork and your finished piece.

Lighting Matters

Stained glass changes depending on lighting conditions, backgrounds, and viewing angles.

Natural sunlight, artificial lighting, and screen settings may influence how the colors and textures appear.

Your finished panel may look slightly different in person than it does in photographs.

Glass Is Glass

Despite its rebellious attitude, this artwork is still made of glass.

Which means it's fragile, occasionally sharp, and not particularly interested in surviving a fall.

Handle carefully and display securely.

All Sales Final & Shipping Damage
